You know how we can tell Game of Thrones has too many characters? Because you can go an entire season without seeing someone who is supposed to be really important to the story, only you don’t even realize he’s gone.

You remember Gendry, don’t you? If you need a refresher, he’s the bastard son of Robert Baratheon (and rightful heir to the Iron Throne) who after avoiding execution in King’s Landing came to be held captive by Robert’s brother Stannis, was mounted and leached by the Red Woman, and then in the final episode of Season 3 was busted out of the dungeons by Ser Davos:

But, like, what happened to him? Season 4 came and went, and there was no Gendry in sight. Did he make it back to King’s Landing? It was only supposed to take a day or two, after all. Did he miss it and is now wandering the ocean aimlessly?

Joe Dempsie, the actor who plays Gendry, finally shed some light on the situation last night:

Still rowin'...#GoT

OK, so not actually. But it’s good to know at least he’s thinking about poor Gendry too. Without knowing anything about the books, we’re still feeling pretty confident Gendry will finally make landfall by Season 5.
