The Ted and Family Guy creator is also a bit of a philanthropist, and according to an AP report (and confirmed by Burton), he has vowed to match every single pledge that comes in over the next five days dollar-for-dollar, up to a staggering $1 million. The goal of this Kickstarter-funded project is to reach $5 million, and as of Friday morning the total had climbed to over $4.1 million.
The money will be used to expand the reach of the tablet-based Reading Rainbow program into schools in need across the country, with a goal of some 7500 different classrooms. Thanks to MacFarlane’s generosity, that goal is now within reach.
