On yesterday’s episode of Last Week Tonight, host John Oliver took aim at one of the most corrupt and scandal-ridden organizations in the world: FIFA, organizers of the World Cup (which kicks off on Thursday).
Unveiling his “sausage principle” (i.e., “if you love something, never find out how it was made”), Oliver dove into the numerous follies and improprieties that have dogged soccer’s governing body. It’s never flattering when your inner workings are equated with “two girls, one cup,” but the point is more or less accurate.
