He may be largely retired, but Jay Leno is still causing people to roll their eyes.

The longtime host of The Tonight Show will receive the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor¸ an annual award that has been given out 16 times previously. Last year, Carol Burnett was the winner, and among the other legends to win are Steve Martin, Tina Fey, and Bill Cosby.

He’ll receive the award on October 19 in a show that will air on November 23. Kennedy Center chairman David Rubenstein said of Leno, “Like Mark Twain, Jay Leno has offered us a lifetime’s worth of humorous commentary on American daily life.”

Twain vs. Leno is kind of a ridiculous comparison, but hey, who are we to judge? He’s the one winning the award.
