The era of female comedians is in full force at Comedy Central.
The network announced today that they’re renewing popular sketch show Inside Amy Schumer for a third season, and are also picking up two new female-led series.
Inside Amy Schumer has been a big hit running alongside Andy Daly’sReview and TripTank, both of which were also renewed. The two new shows being added are Another Period (starring Natasha Leggero and Riki Lindhome) and Idiotsitter (starring Charlotte Newhouse and Jillian Bell).
Another Period is set at the turn of the century and takes place in Newport, RI. It stars two sisters (Leggero and Lindhome), both of whom belong to the city’s wealthiest family, contribute nothing to society, and are incredibly vain.
Idiotsitter tells the story of a very proper woman (Newhouse) who is tasked with babysitting a woman (Bell) placed on house arrest and who lacks any sort of adult tendencies. It was originally a web series for Comedy Central, which they've now decided needs a full season order.
These three shows will join Kroll Show, Broad City, Workaholics, Key & Peele, South Park, and others as part of a powerhouse lineup from Comedy Central later this year.
