Oh man, does this mean we actually have to watch Heroes: Reborn, now? According to EW, the already strange-sounding Heroes miniseries reboot that NBC has planned—which has previously been described as having no real link to the original series that ran on the network between 2006 and 2010—just threw a major curveball by casting Jack Coleman to return as his character Noah Bennet, a.k.a. the man in the horn-rimmed glasses (HRG). Yep, that's a pretty solid link to the original series.

Apparently, Coleman has signed on to the 13-episode miniseries, but it's not clear how many episodes he'll be involved in. From EW:

None

With Coleman returning, it's possible that other characters could be too—though we're doubtful that Noah's adoptive daughter, Claire Bennet/the indestructible cheerleader will be one of them, as Hayden Panettiere is now starring in a much more critically successful show Nashville, is currently pregnant, and has previously said that she hasn't been asked back to the show: "Who knows? It's a little bit of an interesting feeling because you go, 'That was our show, our home, our family,' something that we had a major part in creating as well, and, I mean, I hope that they don't have somebody else playing our characters, that would be a little dagger in the heart. But, you never know. I wish them success in it, for sure."

So...that's probably a no. Good for Jack Coleman, though!
