People in cubicles … rejoice! Facebook is currently building “FB@work”, an at-work version of the social network. The purpose behind the venture is said to paint the network in a more positive light in the workplace. Now, instead of people wasting time of Facebook during work, they can actually be productive while on Facebook and on the clock.

According to a source close to the project, "We are making work more fun and efficient by building an at-work version of Facebook. We will touch code throughout the stack and on all platforms (web, iOS, Android, etc.).” However, don’t get your hopes up too just yet.  When contacted, a spokesperson for Facebook said the company doesn’t comment on rumors or speculation and has “nothing to add at this point”.

With so much uncertainty it's still unclear as to how Facebook intends FB@Work to work exactly. Facebook may leverage this new venture in order to drive new business, or simply build a space on the existing site for work professionals a la LinkedIn.  Only time will tell.
