Ubisoft has revealed that the upcoming open-world hacking game Watch Dogswill release at 900p on the PlayStation 4 and 792p on the Xbox One. Below the full HD standard and promise of the new generation of console, 1080p. While the sacrifice in graphics will surely make the game play better it is hard to overlook the fact that many early adopters of both next-gen consoles were hoping for more bang for their graphical buck early into the generation than they are getting. Watch Dogs is just the latest release to show it.

“Resolution is a number, just like framerate is a number. All those numbers are valid aspects of making games,” said Creative Director Jonathan Morin. “But you make choices about the experience you want to deliver. In our case, dynamism is everything. Exploration and expression are everything. You want to have a steady framerate, but you want to have dynamism at the core of the experience. The same goes with resolution.”

It's hard to described the eye-watering detail of high-definition graphics. With the release of a new console generation we want to be wowed all over again. Unfortunately that hasn't been the case with many next-gen releases so far. After all many of these games have been in production for years before the final specifications of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One were known to developers. Watch Dogs drops on May 27, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and a Wii U release is set for the summer.
