Twitter has many failed attempts when it comes to breaking into the music industry. Yet, it may have finally found its answer.
Recode is reporting that the company is looking to buy the streaming site SoundCloud, which is considered the YouTube of audio. No numbers have been announced, but this would likely be Twitter's biggest acquisition yet. Music is one of the biggest and most talked about topics on Twitter, and the company tried launching a standalone music app last year, but they closed it a few months ago. SoundCloud would change all of that, and give Twitter access to a number of users that rivals its own user count (and a new way to sell ads.)
The deal could still fall apart, but we'll update developments...
