Syfy has decided that the Discovery Channel shouldn’t be the only ones who get to commit an entire week’s worth of programming to sharks.

And thus do we have Sharknado Week, which we can only assume will lead to Emmys all around. It is slated for the week of July 26-August 2, and among the shows and movies scheduled to air are Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda, Mega Shark vs. Mecha Shark, and Sharkmania: The Top 15 Biggest Baddest Bloodiest Bites.

Of course, the main attraction will be the world premiere of Sharknado 2: The Second One, scheduled for July 30 (for those into setting their DVRs waaaaaay ahead of time). How could they make a sequel? Glad you asked! Here’s the plot, courtesy of Syfy:

A freak weather system turns its deadly fury on New York City, unleashing a Sharknado on the population and its most cherished iconic sites – and only Fin (Ian Ziering) and April (Tara Reid) can save the Big Apple.

The network is already betting heavily on the movie succeeding; a few weeks ago, they officially green-litanother Sharknado movie. Ziering and Reid, we are sure, will be available.
