Will The Witcher 3 run better on the PS4 than Xbox One? It might.

And that's ok, says CD Projekt Red. In a recent interview with Eurogamer, studio co-founder Marcin Iwinski said that the developer isn't necessarily concerned with leveling the playing field – it's more important to play to the strengths of each console. That means CD Projekt won't limit the potential of any one version just to achieve parity, either.

"No, we don't want to make any artificial things with the game, and both platform holders are supportive in terms of making sure it runs to the full potential," Iwinski said during the interview. "Again, it's against our values to dumb anything down for the sake of some business arrangement."

Iwinski also said that if there are differences between Wild Hunt's performance between the two next-gen consoles – the potential of the game's PC version outstripping what's possible on both Sony and Microsoft's machines notwithstanding – they will probably be slight. He said the difference in resolution is more of a "PR differentiation."

"We're definitely working to max out each of the platforms in terms of what we can get, because that's a crucial element of The Witcher. Will there be big differences? Really I don't think so. It's too early to say. If there will be, they will be tiny."

So, unless you have a 4K OLED tv that's the size of a wall, you're probably not going to notice the difference. Wild Hunt hits next February.
