Swastika-Wearing NYC Cab Driver Attempts to Justify Swastika

This man needs to read a book or five during his suspension.

On Friday, a New York City cabbie was suspended for 30 days after he was seen wearing an armband bearing a swastika. According to him, he has the right to wear it, and everyone who has a problem with it is in the wrong.

CBS New York spoke to 26-year-old Bronx resident Gabriel Diaz, who basically owned up to being a Nazi in a puzzling confession. "I am. I’m a National Socialist – what you guys call a Nazi. I am. I’m a believer of it," he explained. Still, he denied being anti-Semitic: "I don’t hate Jews. I’m critical of them, but I don’t hate them. That doesn’t mean that I’m anti-Semitic. That don’t make me a hater."

CBS New York's Lou Young asked Diaz if he was aware that some 6 million Jews were killed by Nazis, to which he offered another priceless comment: "I have no comment on that right now." Don't expect an apology anytime soon.

The Taxi and Limousine Commission has given him a month to think about the armband, anti-Semitism and everything else. Hopefully, he learns something during that time.
