Bill Gates, the world's richest man, is poised to become the first trillionaire sometime within the next 25 years.

While that seems a little far off, the man gives out tons of cash every year for various philanthropic efforts. Even with that, if the world's fortunes keep growing at their current pace, Gates, or one of the elite mega billionaires, will reach trillionaire status by 2039.

“Two generations ahead, future extrapolation of current wealth growth rates yields almost a billion millionaires, equivalent to 20 per cent of the total adult population,” investment bank Credit Suisse wrote in an annual Global Wealth Report. “If this scenario unfolds, then billionaires will be commonplace, and there is likely to be a few trillionaires too, eleven according to our best estimate.”

Of course, the 58-year-old will have to live another 25 years to see his wealth grow to that point, but he probably wouldn't care anyway, since giving away his wealth is one of his top priorities
