Before we begin our taste test, let me say this: City Guide takes its jerky very seriously. I rarely leave my corner bodega without a pack of Krave's Garlic Chili Pepper Beef Jerky and love picking up an Ostrim Beef & Ostrich Snack on the run. That said, to celebrate National Beef Jerky Day today (which is a real thing, by the way), we decided to try every brand at our local Duane Reade. Unfortunately for us, however, the results were mixed to say the least. While some of the jerky had that sweet-and-smoky flavor that defines the perfect dried meat snack, most of the brands left us wanting more (and not in a good way). Even so, we came, we saw, we chewed (and chewed some more), and this is what the Duane Reade's jerky tasted like. Here's our report.
