After Gravity made north of $700 million at the worldwide box office, director Alfonso Cuarón cemented his status as a great director who could also create movies with commercial appeal. Of course this means that studios will now be coming out of the woodwork to offer him jobs on potential big-budget franchises and tentpole movies in the hopes of landing another record-breaking hit.

Last week, the director was linked to the upcoming Harry Potter spin-off, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. But now, Schmoes Know is reporting on another rumor that should pique the interest of horror fans. According to the site, Warner Bros. has basically offered Cuarón the chance to direct the upcoming prequel to The Shining, titled The Overlook Hotel.

Obviously Warner Bros. is behind both Fantastic Beasts and Overlook, and it is also the studio that put out Gravity, so there is a working relationship between the two parties. The site is suggesting that Warner Bros. wants Cuarón on both movies, with Fantastic Beasts being the first priority.

Cuarón is no stranger to the world of Potter or horror, so both would make sense, if that is the direction he wants to go in. Which would you rather see him direct?
