What are the limits of public funding? Star Citizen is certainly probing those depths as it races past over $42 million in public funds. So what do gamers get for reaching this new, daringly teetering high? A new HUD, improvements to the in-game encyclopedia, a new space fighter and a towel. A nice one.

After all, which all the millions that went into that towel rack you can't just leave it there right?

Founder Chris Roberts announced the improvements in a blog post and detailed the improvements. Including updates to the Observist Guide (the in-game guide), an explorer-class mobiGlas rig (heads-up display) for those who backed the game below $42 million, and the addition of the “Gladius” fighter. And don't forget the towel pictured above. After all, which all the millions that went into that towel rack you can't just leave it there right?

Users can vote on which improvements they want to see in the game by voting on changes for the next million dollars but since no one has actually got there hands on this game it's hard to tell how much is fluff for crowdfunding and how much might actually add something to the open world space simulator.

Here's a look a what all that crowd cash is going for Star Citizen as it debuted the first in-game fighter footage at Pax East last weekend.
