According to Entertainment Weekly, one of the Dark Knight’s most popular villains, The Riddler, has been cast by FOX for the upcoming TV drama, Gotham. The site is reporting that newcomer Cory Michael Smith has landed the coveted role of Edward Nygma on the show. In the series he will be portrayed as “a brilliant young forensic scientist working for Gotham PD and a penchant for speaking in … rather cryptic language. Inquisitive, eccentric and outgoing — yet socially awkward — he wants to be liked, but he doesn’t quite know how.”
Cory Michael Smith has a few film credits to his name, such as Carol and Camp X-Ray, but he has become more recognized recently as Emilia Clarke’s potential boyfriend. The two have been spotted together, according to various tabloids.
Comic book fans couldn’t care less about his dalliances, just as long as he can deliver when Gotham premieres later this year.
