The psychological breakdown of young Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) will continue for another season as Deadline has confirmed that A&E has decided to renew Bates Motel for a third season. The show has amassed a strong critical reception since its debut last year, and it is now the network’s top-rated drama among adults ages 18-49.

Like the two seasons that preceded it, the third season of Bates Motel will consist of 10 episodes. The network is obviously excited about the prospect of more Bates creepiness after A&E’s EVP David McKillop stated: “The incredible writing team and talented Bates Motel cast has made this series one of the most compelling original dramas on television.”

Bates Motel remains A&E’s prime drama, and for a network attempting to experience more success in the scripted series game, it’s important to keep the show around for as long as possible.
