This Video Explains Why We Like to Be Scared

Remember when Paranormal Activity was all the rage? The trailers and TV spots would feature people being scared out of their MINDS at screenings. You could see the terror on their lit little faces. Still, people went to a room full of strangers so they could fell the same way the people in those videos felt—absolutely petrified. AND they spent money to do this. Over $190 million.

So, why is it that people relish being scared?

Thanks to this video put together by Buzzfeed, we've got an answer. When we're scared our brains release a chemical called dopamine that triggers pleasure and rewards. Some people release more when they're scare and others release less.
