If you don’t know the name Sylvain Chomet, you should fix that now. He’s the director behind some of the best animated films of the last decade, including The Triplets of Belleville and The Illusionist. Now he’s trying his hand at directing The Simpsons’ opening couch gag, which will air during the series’ new episode this Sunday on Fox.

This couch gag takes the Simpson family out of their comfort zone and into Chomet’s trademark French style. The result is a much different, and slightly more morbid, take on America’s favorite animated family. But despite the radical change in look and tone, this is a dream collaboration for animation fans.

Take a look at the couch gag in full above. And if you dig the style, be sure to check out some of Chomet’s feature-length films as well.
