New information has revealed that the man who shot and killed another for texting inside of a Florida movie theater in January was also texting.

On Jan. 13, retired Tampa police officer Curtis Reeves, 71, killed 43-year-old Chad Oulson for texting his daughter at home. However, the Associated Press reports that Reeves sent his son a text minutes before the shooting. Current Tampa police officer Matt Reeves told police that his father had sent him a text letting him know where he was seated inside of the theater. Reeves had made plans to catch a matinee showing of Lone Survivor with his parents.

As the younger Reeves was searching the dark theater for his parents, his father shot Oulson and his wife. Though Reeves did not witness the shooting, the sound and light directed him to seats at the top level of the theater. Matthew Reeves attempted to stop Oulson's bleeding with a t-shirt.

Reeves has been charged with second-degree murder, as well as aggravated battery for shooting Oulson's wife as she attempted to protect her husband. Reeves, who has pleaded not guilty to both charges, faces at least 25 years behind bars.
