In a fitting tribute, Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima will present Rockstar Games their BAFTA Fellowship award at their British Academy Games Awards ceremony next week in London.

The award was announced earlier this week for Rockstar's talent creating "intricately layered interactive worlds" that have "kept the company at the forefront of the gaming industry for over a decade, both critically and commercially," the most recent of which is last October's monumentally successful Grand Theft Auto V.

Kojima is also no stranger to admiring Rockstar – not only has the upcoming MGSV gone open world due to GTA's influence, the Metal Gear director has even admitted to being depressed his feeling that MGSV simply would not be able to measure up.

The fellowship is an annual award – the most prestigious honor given out by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts – given for "recognition of an outstanding and exceptional contribution to film, television or games."

If you happen to be in London and would like to attend, tickets for the March 12 event are available here.
