Bill Gates was named the world's richest person by Forbes (surprise!), clocking in a staggering $76 billion to his name.
Gates beat out Mexico's Carlos Slim ($72 billion) by adding an extra $9 billion to his bank account over the past year. Slim had led billionaires for the past four years, but Gates has more than held his own by claiming the title 15 of the past 20 years. The Microsoft co-founder recently stepped down from his role as chairman to become a technology advisor to the company's newest CEO, Sataya Nadella. And of course, he's keeping busy with his philanthropy through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
