After the critical acclaim of last year's Assassin's Creed: Black Flag (and its subsequent DLC add-on Freedom Cry) Ubisoft put out a survey seemingly designed to gauge interest for another game set in the open-world waters sailed by Edward Kenway and his crew.
Now it seems that may come in the form of a last-gen sequel to the next-gen Assassin's Creed: Unity as Game Informer reports that an as-of-yet unannounced PS3 and Xbox 360 title Assassin's Creed: Comet is allegedly being released later this year.
Reportedly set in 1758, Comet evidently is all about a templar named Shay and takes place in the New York colony, though little else is known about it at the time, assuming the rumor is real. Of course, while Ubisoft has already confirmed that 2014 will see the release of two Assassin's Creed titles – one last-gen, one next-gen – they refused to comment on rumors and speculation, as is common practice in the industry.
In any case, given past years' reveals (and trends in general) we should hope to find out more about Comet, assuming it exists, later this Summer.

Is "Assassin's Creed IV" Getting A Last-Gen Sequel This Year?
The oddly-named (rumored) title "AC: Comet" may very well be headed to the PS3 and 360.
