Nothing about the Veronica Mars movie has been typical: a canceled show, brought back to life by Kickstarter and a rabid fan base. It doesn't even have normal film distribution -- Warner Bros. rented out 270 theaters for the flick.

They also announced they'll be releasing Veronica Mars on demand for home viewers the same day it hits theaters. Obviously, you usually have to wait a few months to enjoy a new movie pantsless in the comfort of your own home. It's the first time one of the big studios has done the whole simultaneous-release thing, but the Wall Street Journal says we shouldn't expect a change in Hollywood's business model. They can afford to take a risk on something they didn't have to fund out-of-pocket.

Actually, Warner Bros. expects fans will go see it in theaters and watch it again at home. So really, they're just trying to get more money out of you. Either way, you can watch Veronica Mars March 14.
