Jeff Winger is moving on up: On May 3, Community star and The Soup host, Joel McHale, will host the White House Correspondents' Dinner. Past hosts include Conan O'Brien, Jimmy Kimmel, and Stephen Colbert, so McHale is in good company.

The president of the White House Correspondents' Association, Steven Tomma, said he's "thrilled" to have McHale host the dinner, because (via Variety) “he’s sharp, funny, and just the type of comic who can navigate the unique challenge of our dinner, making fun of Democrats, Republicans and especially the news media.”

The dinner, which is accurately nicknamed, "Nerd Prom" (like a Community episode of your dreams), is a gala type of event in which a comedian tells political jokes to journalists, politicians, celebrities, Republicans, Democrats, and the Prez himself, while hoping that maybe this can be the one night out of the year that they can all get along...and not give off the sense that they all want to throttle one another. (Leave that to Frank Underwood, amirite?)

For us...it's possibly the only time we'll ever tune into C-SPAN
