Welp, this is a long way from Greenpoint: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Girls star Adam Driver is in final negotiations to play the villain in the upcoming, highly anticipated Star Wars: Episode VII. Details for the project are scarce, unsurprisingly, so we don't have much of an idea of who exactly Driver will be portraying—just that he's a villain—or much to tell about the movie itself. A couple of things are certain, though: There will be light sabers, and it will take place in a galaxy far, far away. That's something, yeah?
In response to Driver's casting, his Girls co-star and creator of the series, Lena Dunham, sent out the following tweet:
Aww.
Anyway back to the film: There are many rumors about other cast members, though—most notably Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, and Billy Dee Williams reprising their roles from the original movies—but nothing is certain yet.
Star Wars: Episode VII will hit theaters on December 18, 2015.
