In a horrible freak accident, a 10-year-old was impaled while sledding in Maryland today.
According to the Baltimore Sun, the child was impaled by a piece of rebar while sledding in Jarrettsville this morning. Harford County Fire and EMS spokesperson Rich Gardiner said that the victim was freed around noon.
The Sun notes that while a request for assistance from the Maryland Shock Trauma Center'sGo Team was made, it was later cancelled.
