Left Behind is the upcoming single-player downloadable content for last year's epic win, The Last of Us. In an interview with PlayStation blog actor Ashley Johnson, who plays the role of Ellie, talks about the new dimensions of the much-loved character.

“You kind of get to meet the real her,” said Johnson “She's in the quarantine zone prior to the events of The Last of Us – it's her and her best friend Riley – what they do and how they live their lives in the world.”

“You’ll definitely see a more playful side to Ellie and get to know her a bit better. You’re going to see a lot of different sides to the character that you definitely didn’t see in The Last of Us. I’m excited for people to experience it!”

Johnson describes this DLC campaign has a bit more fun of an experience. The story of The Last of Us is certainly not sunshine and rainbows but this time around it's to two teenage girls in a mall – not the plot setup you were expecting?

“It’s kind of like a post-pandemic version of two teenage girls hanging out,” she said. “There’s a bit of everything in there. You’re really getting a new sense of the environment. You’ll engage in combat that seems familiar from the original campaign, but there are some new touches and nuances, too.”
There will be a playfulness that two friends have hanging out that gamers didn't exactly experience with the Ellie's interaction is hard-worn Joel in the desperate struggle to survive which is the original game.

More news is inbound later this week, including new trailers. Stay tuned for more details about the new single-player DLC Left Behind. Check out the previously released teaser trailer below.
