Good news: Lee Daniels and The Butler writer Danny Strong (also known as Jonathan from Buffy) are set to work together again. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Daniels and Strong are working on a hip-hop series called Empire, which has already been picked up by Fox. Strong reportedly wrote the pilot, and Daniels is set to direct it.

As for the plot—it's apparently set in the "world of a hip-hop empire," similar to that of Jay Z's, and it will feature both original and current music. Brian Grazer, who executive produced Arrested Development during its original run on Fox, will be executive producing the show alongside Strong and Daniels.

As the project is still pretty early in development, there's no word on when to expect it on TV just yet.
