Ant-Man Cameo on "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."? Clark Gregg Is All For It

Anything to renew interest in this show.

Much like his character, S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson, Clark Gregg is basically the de facto steward of the Marvel cast family. Now that Paul Rudd's officially joined the fold as Ant-Man, Gregg's welcoming him with open arms. Speaking on Rudd's casting with Zap2It, Gregg said "I love that idea. I love that idea. I think he's amazing and, for me, what's great about Marvel is the kind of outside the box casting that they've done, starting with Robert [Downey Jr.] who now seems so perfect, but I think was a little bit of a tough sell at the first moment. People who you don't associate initially with superhero movies is what works so well for Ant-Man, who's so smart and has an intellect."

He also added that he hopes Rudd/Ant-Man "comes onto our show" which, given the waning interest in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., reads more like "Please save our show!" Of course, an Ant-Man cameo would be jumping the gun, but it might behoove the series to take a cue from Arrow and start incorporating fan-favorite characters from the Marvel universe if it wants to make it to the 2014-2015 TV season.
