A USC professor has created a way to build an entire house in a day. Or, print a house in a day, we should say.

Professor Behrokh Khoshnevis developed a new 3D printer than can lay concrete to create a 2,500-square-foot house in 24 hours. "Our research also addresses the application of Contour Crafting in building habitats on other planets. Contour Crafting will most probably be one of the very few feasible approaches for building structures on other planets, such as the Moon and Mars, which are being targeted for human colonisation before the end of the new century," researchers said on their website.

The first potential opportunities for the project—here on Earth—could be creating housing for low-income neighborhoods, or office buildings or schools. As the technology gets more advanced, taller and more complex buildings could become possible.
