According to Coming Soon, Dimension Films has reserved January 2, 2015 as the official release date for the next installment in the Amityville Horror franchise. Simply titled Amityville, this latest chapter will be a found footage movie that looks to shed more light on the classic horror series. Here is a short synopsis of what you can expect from the movie:

Amityville was going under the working title The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes for a while, but this simplified name suggests that the producers are looking to distance this installment from the others.
