Get ready for all of the nightmares of your childhood to come to life on the big screen: According to Vulture, CBS Films has just bought the rights to that book that scared the shit out of every kid from 1981 on, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, and is working on a feature film based on it. Even better: Saw writers Patrick Helton and Marcus Dunstan pitched the whole project.

Plotwise, it's apparently going to follow a group of kids who "stand up to their fears to save their town when nightmares come to life," and will feature a few of the stories from the book. So...one part Saw, one part Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, one part that season one Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode where everyone's nightmares came to life and took over Sunnydale?

If this is done right, it could easily be the stuff nightmares are made of.
