Yesterday morning, 86-year-old multimillionaire Robert W. Wilson jumped to his death from his Upper West Side Apartment. Wilson, who lived at the San Remo, amassed roughly $800 million after beginning his first firm, Wilson Associates, with a mere $15,000.

Stephen Viscusi, Wilson's friend, said he had suffered a stroke a few months back and "didn't want to suffer." Viscusi added that Wilson planned to give all of his money away, and the New York Post said he donated $100 million each to the Nature Conservancy, the World Monuments Fund and the Wildlife Conservation Society. Wilson, an atheist, also donated $5.6 million to New York City catholic schools in 2010

His lone marriage ended in divorce after 35 years and he never had any children.
