Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time, arguably the best athlete of the 20th century and one of the most popular athletes ever. Not even that notoriety could help sell his Highland Park, Ill. mansion.
Jordan's seven-acre estate, which was originally listed at $29 million last year, failed to sell at an auction yesterday. According to Jordan spokeswoman Estee Portnoy, no one was willing to pay the $13 million reserve price for the home. Portnoy added that word certainly got around about the auction, but poor market conditions most likely hurt the demand.
The 56,000-square-foot home features nine bedrooms (with ample closet space for an atrocious wardrobe), 15 full bathrooms, a pool pavilion, and, of course, an indoor basketball court. Aside from this being Michael Jordan's former home, two additional unique selling points are the original doors from the Playboy mansion in Chicago.
New options for the estate will be considered next year. In the meantime, Jordan will be just fine.
