Another day, another lazy reboot idea from Hollywood. This time it's courtesy of Paramount Pictures, who is planning to reboot The Naked Gun franchise. The crime-comedy series, itself a spin-off of ABC's TV show Police Squad, spawned three films and generated about $275 million in revenue.

The success was in large part due to comic legend Leslie Nielsen's winning turn as the bumbling Detective Frank Drebin. Variety reports that Paramount has tapped Ed Helms, of Hangover trilogy and The Office fame, to fill Nielsen's shoes. Reno 911! creators Thomas Lennon and R. Ben Garant will write the script, so there's a chance this could actually turn out well.
