With its release date fast-approaching, another lengthy trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug has hit the web—and, put simply, it looks great

Running at three minutes, the trailer gives us our first glimpse of newcomers and Evangeline Lilly, Luke Evans, as well as a good look at returning players Martin Freeman, Ian McKellan, Orlando Bloom, Lee Pace, Richard Armitage, and Freeman's Sherlock co-star, Benedict Cumberbatch. We won't give too much away because the trailer is better experienced when viewed, but the film does center around the hobbits saving the world from "grave danger"—so expect a lot of epic fight scenes against the backdrop of Middle Earth.

You can check it out above. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will hit theaters on December 13th.
