The CW dropped its first photos of Grant Gustin (Glee) as Barry Allen, best known as The Flash, on the upcoming episode of Arrow, airing Dec. 4. In this updated version, Allen is a Central City assistant police forensics investigator tasked with solving a string of robberies plaguing Starling City. Oh and he's also an Arrow fanboy with a mysterious past, naturally.

After CW execs screened the first two episodes featuring The Flash (he's supposed to appear in a total of three this season), they were apparently so excited about the what they saw that they're giving The Flash a go-ahead for his own standalone pilot. Arrow producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg, writer Geoff Johns, and director David Nutter will take the helm. Originally, the plan was to use episode 20 of Arrow as The Flash's "backdoor pilot," but where that stands now is unclear.

But enough with the nuts and bolts of everything and let's get to what fans really care about: the fact that Barry Allen is supposed to romance Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards).

About that, Olicity-Endgame illustrated it best:
