Today Game Informer has revealed Lord of the Rings Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, a LOTR prequel being developed by Monolith Productions and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

This massive next-gen, sandbox RPG has been confirmed for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Once again, condolonces to the Wii U owners out there.

Shadow of Mordor will take place between The Hobbit and the first The Lord of the Rings title. Players will control Talion, a murdered, and soon resurrected, ranger. As the narrative unfold you will gain both wraith and ranger abilities in your quest for revenge. The game's newly launched site had this to say about the new Nemesis System that was developed for the title,

"Enemy relationships and characteristics are shaped by player actions and decisions to create personal archenemies that remember and adapt to the player and are distinct to every gameplay session,"

"The game introduces new gameplay mechanics to the action genre, creating opportunities for emergent and customised gameplay that will be rewarding for players."

A developer video has been released from Monolith and Warner Bros. with no firm release date other than 2014.
