The Xbox One got off to a very bad start when it was unveiled earlier this year. It had a lot of strange policies and features involving not being able to play used games, not being able to share games with friends, having to constantly connect to the internet, and more.
Microsoft swore that there was a purpose to these features. Maybe if they had explained what that purpose was, they wouldn't have had to backtrack on every single one of them, changing the console back into what fans thought they wanted. We'll never know how Microsoft's controversial policies would ultimately have manifested, but Microsoft might have avoided all of this if they had been open about everything to begin with.
