If you've been impatiently awaiting the upcoming J. J. Abrams-directed Star Wars: Episode VII, I've got some potentially bad news: According to The Atlantic Wire, you might be waiting a whole lot longer, because it's possible they won't make their 2015 deadline. Apparently, the project is having some "trouble" behind the scenes, and though Abrams is "on board" with making the 2015 deadline that Disney CEO Bob Iger has put in place, many involved aren't too sure that's going to happen—especially because, as The Hollywood Reporter puts it, the script "isn't close to ready." Yikes.
Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy is said to have requested that the release date be moved from 2015 to 2016—giving production one more year to work on the project and allow for errors that will probably be made—but Disney isn't budging. Reportedly, this is because the entire future of the rebooted Star Wars franchise rests on this film being released in 2015. Even if the movie ends up being sloppily put together, they want it sooner rather than later. From THR:
