According to a recent study, sex is better for burning calories than walking (no surprise there), but not quite as effective as jogging. The study was published last week in PLOS One and claimed that young, helthy men and women burn 4.2 and 3.1 calories a minute respectively during sex.

For the study, 21 couples between the ages of 18 and 35 were fitted with fitness tracker, SenseWear, then asked to jog on a treadmill for 30 minutes. They were then sent home to have sex wearing the same armbands in order to compare the number of calories burned. Per the results, men burned an average of 101 calories during sex, while women burned 69.

That's a good workout, but jogging proved to be the better exercise, with men burning an average of 276 calories per session compared to 213 for women. Our recommendation? More of both.
