Okay North American gamers, if you think shelling out $399 for the new PlayStation 4 is crazy then take sympathy on our South American brothers and sisters. Because of high import taxes the PlayStation 4 will sell for 3,999 Brazilian Real or about $1850 US Dollars.

Speaking to G1 TechSony Brazil explained that between 60 to 70-percent of the cost is made up of import fees and taxes. That means the PlayStation 4 console will cost about $554 USD while import and tax fees cost about $1,292, ouch.

In comparison Microsoft’s next-gen Xbox One will cost merely $2,200 Brazilian Real or $1,016 USD.
