The masterminds responsible for Pelzer's Pretzels have used the momentum from success at both DeKalb Market and Smorgasburg to open a full storefront in Crown Heights. On Saturday, Barella Kirkland and husband, Leon, will open their first store at 724 Sterling Place, bringing a taste of their native Philadelphia to Brooklyn.

"We’ll be serving our soft pretzels, coffee and silly regional snacks that are sometimes hard to find outside of Philly," Kirkland told DNainfo. "Eventually we’re going to use our buns to make sandwiches." That's right, the pretzel buns are what the future holds.

Pelzer's Pretzels will only be open weekends and Mondays in the interim, but the Kirklands plan to broaden their schedule over time.
