It looks like that Kario Salem-penned Martin Luther King Jr. biopic is finally moving forward, potentially with some major stars behind it. According to The Wrap, Jamie Foxx and Oliver Stone are in negotiations to team up for the project, with Foxx in talks to star as King, and Stone in talks to direct for DreamWorks.

This particular project has actually been in the works for a while: DreamWorks acquired the rights to King's story (and his "I Have a Dream" speech) back in 2009, and Salem was brought on to the project in 2011 after DreamWorks teamed up with Warner Bros., who had been developing their own King project with Salem. Perhaps most significantly, this project seems likely to get the support of the King family—unlike the other King biopic in the works, Memphis, which focuses on King's final days, and is being developed by Paul Greengrass and Scott Rudin.

Also worth noting: Steven Spielberg will be producing the project for DreamWorks, along with some members of King's family.
