One Fargo, N.D. woman has decided to combat childhood obesity on her own, claiming she will hand out letters to trick-or-treaters that she perceives to be "mildly obese" for Halloween this year. NBC12 in Richmond, Va. says that the woman, known only as "Cheryl," says she "just [wants] to send a message to the parents of kids that are really overweight" because it's "really irresponsible of parents to send them out looking for free candy just because all the other kids are doing it."

So basically, she's taking it upon herself to tell other people how to raise their children. Cheryl is actually a firm believer in this concept: "I'm contributing to their health problems, and really, their kids are everybody's kids," she said, justifying her decision.

However, North Dakota State University assistant professor of clinical psychology Dr. Katie Gordon believes this could have an adverse effect on children: "It's just that kind of thing that for some kids, if they're vulnerable, might trigger major problems," Gordon explained.

So fat shaming kids is supposed to help them? Maybe she should watch Full Metal Jacket and pay attention to the dynamic between Prvt. "Pyle" and Sgt. Hartman.
