Like your games hard? Like, harder than Dark Souls hard? You may want to look into Ikaruga, Treasure’s infamously difficult bullet-hell shoot-em-up, which has recently been given a chance at newfound exposure through a PC Steam Greenlight release.
That’s a good thing, since Ikaruga has unsurprisingly languished in the US, with only an initial Gamecube release (where few played it) followed by a 2008 Xbox Live one (where, again, relatively few played it).
If you like shooters and difficulty that’s akin to claw-your-eyes-out-insanity – or you just want to see more Japanese arcade goodness on Steam – you’d do well to check Ikaruga out. But just FYI: it’s not for the faint of heart. Even the preview video will probably make you afraid.
