Live by the weed, die by the weed. The New York Daily News reports that a Brazilian drug smuggler was killed during a high-speed chase after losing control of his vehicle, striking a tree and being crushed by 1,100 pounds of marijuana.
The unidentified man was traveling from Sao Paulo to Mato Grosso do Sul with the stash in the backseat of his SUV. When Federal Highway Police asked him to pull over at a roadblock, he ended up leading them on a high-speed chase for three miles before meeting his demise.
The Daily News says the man was killed instantly after striking the tree, as the impact sent the drugs flying forward, crushing him against the steering wheel. Both the marijuana and his vehicle were confiscated by authorities.
