After being canceled then uncanceled last year, and receiving a surprise third season, The Killing has once again be killed. In a statement, AMC revealed that they had "made the difficult decision not to move forward with a fourth season of The Killing," and that they totally weren't going to change their minds this time whatever they did. OK, the last part was implied, but—you get the idea.
The cancellation was due to the fact that, though plots slightly improved during the third season, ratings didn't really rise compared to past seasons—episodes still pulled in an average of 1.4 million viewers, which is about the same as last year. Overall, it just wasn't enough to merit a fourth season renewal after giving it a second chance just last year.
So, R.I.P., The Killing—you and Peter Sarsgaard's crazy face will missed.
